About Us
A space to begin, in a way that feels right to you
OUR STORY
For many people, the idea of therapy can feel intimidating. It can be difficult to know where to start, what to talk about, or whether you even need therapy in the first place. And while you may know that something in your life doesn’t feel quite right, taking that first step can feel like a lot.
We attach stigma to what we don’t understand, and that’s the stigma we want to do away with when it comes to such a huge part of your health.
Rooted Spaces was created to make that first step feel a little easier — both more accessible and approachable.
Through different forms of support and ways of working, you can find an entry point that feels comfortable for you.
Whether you’re ready for therapy, curious about understanding yourself better, or simply looking for a place to begin, the intention is the same: to make the journey inward feel less overwhelming and more possible.
Why therapy?
Therapy isn’t only about having a problem to solve.
It’s about understanding what’s happening in your own inner world.
What is it that is making you feel, think or behave a certain way?
What about that is both fulfilling and not fulfilling?
Where are you making things hard for yourself?
Where are you making them easy?
Why do you keep repeating patterns you don’t want to repeat?
Why do you struggle to trust yourself?
Why do relationships feel difficult?
Why you know what you should do, but somehow can’t seem to do it.
Or why, despite everything looking fine from the outside, something inside doesn’t feel quite right.
At its heart, therapy gives you space to slow down and understand yourself.
A space to notice the patterns, beliefs, emotions and ways of relating that have shaped your life — and to understand where they came from, rather than continuing to live on autopilot.
Carl Jung said “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate”.
our approach
There isn’t one way to heal, and there isn’t one way to understand yourself.
Our approach is holistic, experiential, process-driven, depth-oriented and trauma-informed, with an awareness of how the nervous system shapes the way we think, feel and respond. But what does that actually mean for you?
Holistic means we look at the whole of your experience — your thoughts, emotions, body, relationships, experiences and the different parts of your life — rather than reducing everything to a single problem or diagnosis.
Experiential means therapy isn’t only about talking about your life. We also pay attention to what you’re experiencing in the present moment, so that insight can become something you actually feel and experience, not just something you understand intellectually.
Process-driven means we don’t force therapy into a predetermined formula. We follow what is unfolding for you, at a pace that allows meaningful change to happen rather than rushing towards quick fixes.
Depth psychology talks about looking beneath the surface. To effectively answer “How do I stop feeling this way?”, we also need explore “Where is this coming from? Where did I learn to respond this way? How am I contributing to it? What have I had to become in order to feel safe, accepted or loved?”
Trauma-informed means we approach your experiences with an understanding of how difficult or overwhelming experiences can shape the way you see yourself, relate to others and move through the world — without reducing you to your experiences.
And through nervous system awareness, we pay attention to the ways your body responds to stress, safety, connection and uncertainty. This can help make sense of reactions that may otherwise feel confusing, such as sleeping longer, shutting down, becoming overwhelmed, staying constantly on edge or finding it difficult to slow down.
Ultimately, the approach is shaped around you.
Because the goal isn’t simply to feel better for a little while. If living a life disconnected from yourself is the reason you feel the way you do, then building that connection again is a way to root your lived experience within yourself. Safe and supported. We believe that only then can you live a life that feels like it belongs to you.
